Welcome to my blog Latinforme (a combination of Latino and informe, the latter meaning ‘report’ in Spanish), where I post short research articles and book reviews on Latinx American historiography and current events. My name is Nathalia Goetz, and I have a Master of Arts in History with a concentration in American history from Southern New Hampshire University. I am currently applying to doctoral programs in History and International Labor Relations to continue my education and research on Latinx/Hispanic racial/ethnic history and realities in the United States.
In my three years of teaching middle school U.S. and World History, nothing has brought me more joy than to see my students grow into independent, critical, and empathetic young people. My students who have struggled the most in my U.S. history classes have been my English Language Learners (a.k.a. ESOL), many of which have been migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean, who minimally accommodated into their classrooms and underrepresented in U.S. history. My goal is to bridge the gap between higher education and secondary education in order to empower migrant and ELL students and their families with the education and resources necessary to feel part of the greater American story.
